Two cases of aortico-ventricular fistulae.

چکیده
An acquired fistulous communication between the aorta and the right ventricle, caused by syphilitic infection and rupture of an aneurysmal dilation of the right sinus of Valsalva, has been reported by Tompkins (1941). Schuster (1937) made mention of a similar mycotic rupture. Mall (1912) attributed the giving way of the wall in this region to the presence of a congenital weakness. The anatomical disposition of the three sinuses of Valsalva in relation to the rest of the heart was defined by Micks (1940) in his report of unruptured aneurysms of all three sinuses. Rupture of any one of the three sinuses, right, left, or posterior could occur. When the right sinus which is associated with the right coronary artery ruptures, it does so either into the right ventricle or the rigbt atrium. The left sinus, associated with the left coronary artery, is related to the pericardial sac rather than the ventricular chambers: when it ruptures communication is established with the pericardial cavity, and death ensues rapidly through acute compression of the heart. On the other hand, communication with the chambers of the heart or with the adjacent pulmonary artery is compatible with life.

Aortico-left ventricular tunnel experience on three different ages
Aortico-left ventricular tunnel is extremely rare congenital paravalvar communication between the aorta and the left ventricle. Usually it is treated surgically. In addition to the surgery the tunnel can be closed by percutaneous transcatheter intervention in appropriate patients. We present in this paper 7 months, 10 years, and 1,5 months old three male cases with aortico-left ventricular tunn...

متن کاملClinical value of diagnosing aortico-left ventricular tunnel by echocardiography
In order to assess the clinical value of echocardiography in the diagnosis of aortico-left ventricular tunnel (ALVT) the echocardiographic data and clinical manifestations of six patients with ALVT were analyzed in the present study. Based on the results, a comprehensive study was conducted regarding 147 cases from related documents. Six patients were confirmed with ALVT by surgery. The echocar...
متن کامل[Successful surgical management of aortico-left ventricular tunnel using modern noninvasive diagnostic imaging methods].
Aortico-left ventricular tunnel is a rare congenital cardiac defect, which bypasses the aortic valve via the paravalvar connection from the aorta to the left ventricle. The authors present the case of a 14-year-old boy with aortico-left ventricular tunnel in whom the aortic orifice arose from the right aortic sinus and was closed by a pericardial patch. The diagnosis was confirmed by combined t...
متن کاملRepair of aortico-left ventricular tunnel in the neonate: surgical, anatomic and echocardiographic considerations.
Repair of aortico--left ventricular tunnel was accomplished for the first time in the neonatal period. The diagnosis was made with two-dimensional echocardiography. Repair was accomplished using an open-patch aortoplasty technique, which prevented valvular insufficiency, a significant problem in older patients in whom the repair has been attempted.
